The speakers on our laptops, TVs, smartphones or on any other device for that matter seem like they just don’t cut it.

They don’t offer clear and loud enough sound, which spoils half of the multimedia experience you wish to have. If you want to listen to music, than it’s even worse.

No matter how good sounds you play, it will only sound as good as your speakers are.

Nothing can match the feeling that you get from hearing a couple of roaring speakers playing your favorite song. But finding a good speaker isn’t always a straight forward process. Listening to various models before making a buying decision, definitely helps. Here is a list of the best PC speakers we recommend:

Yet even if you have a good set of speakers it don’t always mean that you have the results you hoped for. So, it’s worth understanding a bit more about your perspective speaker.

Such as the speaker type, the space you’re going to use it in, the stereo components that are used to power the system and your preference when it comes to looks. It’s also important that you consider size, quality, and aesthetics performance and price as well.

Buying a new speaker is an important investment, because it serves your crucial need. It requires you to invest enough time into doing a bit of research and enough money to buy something of high quality and something that will last.

What we’re looking at today are bookshelf speakers or PC speakers. These speakers give off two way sound. They have a large speaker for mid-range sound, a tweeter for high-range sounds and a separate subwoofer.

Most of these models come with an internal amplifier, so you can easily set the volume, the bass and anything else.

There is no one best speaker out there, but there are a lot of good manufacturers who have produced some truly high quality ones. Now let’s see how you can find the best one for you!

Best PC Speakers With a Subwoofer

Below you will find a short review of each PC speaker that has a subwoofer, we recommend:

– Logitech Z313 Speaker

Logitech is a top manufacturer of computer peripherals and it has been making speakers too for many years. The company designs each of their speakers with a very simplistic design, which makes it look good in almost any environment.

It’s obvious before you pick it out of the box, that it has two satellite speakers, a left and right one. These are about six inches tall, so they will fit in very small spaces, and won’t take up more space than a can of soda.

They come with a 3.5 mm jack, which you have to plug into the back of the subwoofer, for the speakers to operate. This subwoofer has dimensions of 6” by 7.5” and about 9” in height.

On the bottom, you can find the 4 inch subwoofer, that’s pretty powerful. There is a very small amp inside it and you can use a control pod for adjusting the volume, turning the speaker on and off or connect your headphones, so you don’t have to connect it separately into your computer.

This pod plugs into your soundcard which gives off the signal itself.

25 watts aren’t too much but it still sounds crystal clear and powerful enough, for us to enjoy it. It is definitely capable of filling a small space.

We tested the speakers in a real world environment and it performed pretty well for a pair of simple, computer speakers. The sounds recorded from the speaker seem really stable and only spike at some point.

Logitech kept its good habit of creating speakers that produce crystal clear sounds. The Z313 is another testimonial of what awesome product they develop and I would highly recommend this or any other Logitech speaker you put your eyes on!

– Genius SW-G2.1 2000 2.1

In my previous reviews I told you that I’m really not into any flashy, fancy designs, especially the ones gamer gear has.

This taste had an influence as I reviewed the Genius SW-G2.1 2000 2.1 speaker. One thing’s for sure, that it was made with gamers and is a part of the GX Gaming brand.

Although, that can mean a lot of good things, like advanced directional sounds and so on. Also, they are truly monstrous.

Both speakers and the subwoofer are huge and the woofer also features the Scorpio logo with blue LED backlighting. This massive subwoofer looks like an absolute beast in every way. It’s beastly in both size, with a 6.5 inch driver and design.

This speaker is highly compatible. You can hook it up to your PC, gaming system (Xbox One, PS4), tablet, smartphone or any other device you have in mind.

The Genius SW-G2.1 2000 2.1 speaker system has a completely separate controller, which also serves as an amplifier. You’ll find all the controls, the volume rocker, bass adjusting, the power switch and any other control you require. There are also tons of inputs, for a microphone, for speakers, along with a lot of other features.

The two satellites have a pretty chrome finish. The speakers on them have a blue chrome finish, which is quite nice and would fit a lot of gaming setups.

When it came to the sound test, the Genius SW-G2.1 2000 2.1 was one of the loudest we’ve reviewed.

It produced clear sound and roaring bass, although I wouldn’t recommend turning the base too high. I heard some light crackling when both the bass and volume was on max, which took away from the sound quality.

So if you listen to it on 80%-90%, than it should definitely serve you well as you listen to loud music or enjoy some extra loud gaming sessions!

– Cyber Acoustics 2.1 Computer Speaker

As we moved forward with the reviews, I finally got to see my favorite speaker design in this line up. The Cyber Acoustics 2.1 has a very solid, simplistic design that can fit into any environment.

It looks really modern but doesn’t have that sci-fi wannabe design, making it really elegant. It definitely isn’t an expensive speaker, but does it deliver the quality we’re all looking for? Let’s find out!

Along with the two satellites and the subwoofer, you also get a stand for your smartphone and controller. You get a nice, stylish controller with a headphone jack and an axillary jack.

You can use those to connect a microphone or a headphone once you’ve connected the speakers to your computer. This is an unusual feature, but it’s still nice to have.

The two satellites have two 2” drivers, whom which I only heard crystal clear sounds from and there is also a massive, 5.25 firing subwoofer that gives off roaring sound.

Even if you turn it up to high volumes, you won’t hear it crackling or disturbing the overall experience. The subwoofer is also encased in a wooden cabinet, which makes it have good acoustics. The 30 watts of power comes through really clearly, which is a testimonial for this speaker’s quality.

What I really respect about this speaker is that it is simplistic and delivers a truly smooth, high quality sound. It will perform well, even if you turn it up to maximum volume.

The instruments in music could be can clearly be separated from one another, which is one of the most important parts of having a high quality listening experience.

– Trust Gaming GXT 628

Even though I’m not a big fan of gaming gear, the Trust Gaming GXT 628 really appealed to me, with its cool and simplistic design. It is a speaker that would look great on any gamer’s or professional’s table.

Being multi-platform compatible also adds a lot to this speaker’s value. So it’s really worth the money you would pay for it.

You can connect this speaker to your PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One or any other device that supports a standard audio jack or a Bluetooth connection.

The Trust Gaming GXT 628 is available in three versions. There is the standard version, which is also the cheapest, the Bluetooth version and the most expensive version that also features LED illumination.

Of course, it’s up to you to decide which features you require, but your decision won’t make any difference in the sound quality, which is good.

The controls are on the side of the base unit, the wooden subwoofer. It is a pretty large subwoofer with a 7-inch driver.

If you choose the version with LED illumination, you’ll also have yourself an awesome room decoration piece, because it looks awesome once you turn it on. The LED lights pulsate along with the music, creating your own little light show.

You also get a separate control doll, for adjusting the volume and bass. It is one of the most uniquely designed controls that I’ve reviewed on this list, which is a big plus in terms of design. Although I would have liked to feel it have a bit more weight.

When it comes to performance, the Trust Gaming GXT 628 stands on top of the crowd. It has 120 Watts of power and delivers it in the form of clear, booming sound.

Even high pitch sounds are crisp clear and high bass levels don’t punch the experience too much. But you can adjust it easily to your liking.

To me, the Trust Gaming GXT 628 is one of the best computer speakers to have right now. It has the sound quality that fits even the highest demands and a design that makes it the perfect decoration for your PC corner as well.

– Theater Solutions by Goldwood 2.1

If you’re a bit more demanding multimedia enthusiast and would like to have your PC speakers deliver more features or would like to use them in your home theater system as well, we have a pretty good solution for you.

Allow me to introduce the Theater Solutions by Goldwood 2.1, which is a well-designed speaker system that was built for high quality sound and convenience.

In the system there is subwoofer that has the measurements of 10.5” x 7” x 10” inches and the two full range satellite speakers with measurements of 5” x 3.75” x 3.5” each.

It boasts 300 watts of power which makes it one of the most powerful speakers on this list. This way, it provides the necessary power for you to make it a part of your home entertainment system.

The sounds coming from the speakers are well balanced with a 40Hz -20Khz frequency response.

The speaker system also features an USB/SD card reader and rear treble and bass controls, along with a full function remote control. So you can control the speaker on the top of the woofer or from the comfort of your couch, through the remote control.

This is one of Goldwood’s best-selling speakers because it is simple, low cost and just gets the job done.

You can easily connect it to your TV, PC, home entertainment system, MP3 player, gaming console and just about any device that supports a 3.5 mm jack.

– Logitech Z623 200 Watt Home Speaker System

This is a 2.1 system with a really sleek and cool looking design. It isn’t really modern, nor is it flashy in any way, it just keeps that old fashion speaker design we all know and love.

Logitech has already manufactured some marvelous computer peripherals, not to mention its speakers.

The dimensions of the subwoofer is 3.02 x 2.64 x 283 mm. It looks like just a simple box, but it booms with great sound once you turn it on. It has an air went on the left side and on the front, there is the speaker main speaker, enclosed in metal mesh.

The speakers have rubber padding on the bottom that make it stand firmly on any surface you put it on, by giving it a lot of resistance.

It won’t scratch the surface, nor will it move anywhere unless you lift it up. Both channel speakers will easily fit into small spaces, so placing them shouldn’t be a problem.

I really liked the solution of having a separate control unit for the speakers, but this model doesn’t feature that. Instead, you have your volume control, bass control and power button on the front of the right speaker.

On the side, you can find the permanently attached power cable, an RCA connection for the left channel speakers, the 3.5 mm jack for connecting your computer. You can also use it to connect it to your smartphone or any other device that supports a 3.5 mm jack connection.

The only problem I’ve found with the cords is that there is only 5 feet of length between the two speakers, so you can’t place them too far apart.

For such small speakers, they sure pack a lot of power. These are 120 watt speakers and get pretty loud if you let them. I was surprised that even though that this is a pretty simple 2.1 setup, it is still a lot louder and offers clearer sound than most setups heard so far.

To top it off, they are also THX certified, which means you get incredibly clear sound. It gives off awesome sound no matter what you do. So these speakers definitely won’t disappoint you in any way.

If you are someone who likes the most cost effective solutions for getting high quality, I can definitely recommend this product for you. You’ll get your money’s worth all the way and enjoy a solid setup of computer speakers for the upcoming years!

– Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

People have high regards for Klipsch speakers, because of their outstanding quality and because most of them (including this model) are THX certified.

Some consider it to be one of the best speakers in its price range and it’s hard to argue about that. This speaker really does deliver high quality sound that fit’s its price tag as well.

It is a truly premium speaker system. The only thing that would drive anyone away from it is their own individual taste.

What I loved about the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 is that it gives a very true sound, without noticeable distortion. It gives you a full spectrum, everything that you would want to hear in your music, you can definitely hear it.

The music is equally distributed throughout the highs mediums and lows, making it have a truly beautiful sound.

The build quality is the best I’ve seen so far in a speaker. The satellite speakers have a metal stand, which is incredibly sturdy and also makes the whole thing look very stylish.

The sound is very-very clear. It’s extremely pleasing to the ears and makes you notice even the finest details within your music. Everything is so incredibly well balanced that I cannot help but enjoy even the music that I don’t like.

The bass is just so good, I heard nothing like it so far in a computer speaker. Not to mention that the whole thing is very loud, since it is powered by a 200-watt digital hybrid amplifier. It also features a headphone jack and a miniplug input as well.

You can connect this speaker to almost any computer, laptop or any other device that has 3.5mm port.

The crisp clear sound is also thanks to the 31 Hz and 20 kHz frequency response range, but that doesn’t really matter, since the human ear can’t hear much above 20 kHz.

It is actually impossible for me to clearly elaborate the clearness and sound quality that these speakers offer, so it’s best if you try them yourself if you can. Either in a store or by ordering it, you always have a 40 day money back guarantee, so you can do it safely if they really appeal to you.

– Arion Legacy Deep Sonar 750

Arion is advertising the Deep Sonar 750 as the meanest speaker set on the market. The say it has bone crushing bass in just about every piece of advertisement they put out.

It really is one speaker that you would proudly bring with you on a party and put some tape on the windows before you turn it on. It has a fine set of speakers, tweeters and subwoofers, along with a separate desktop control panel, which make it a truly awesome setup!

Let’s see if it worth the price and whether it complies with the desires of a music enthusiast or not. One thing is for sure, the Arion Legacy Deep Sonar 750 is no average computer speaker.

The independent amp is an awesome feature to have. It uses two separate circuits to power the speakers, which will give you a major boom.

The satellite speakers have an RMS power of 10.5 watts x2 and the whole system has peak power of 166 watts. This is all encased in wood with the satellite speakers having 3 inch woofers and a 1 inch tweeter.

It will easily fill the room with good quality sound. The roaring subwoofer has an RMS power of 26 watts x 2 delivers distortion-free rumbles, which is an essential sound element of a great party.

It also helps to bring your games, movies and music to life, so you can enjoy a whole lot more immersive experience.

The absolutely convenient control box features all your sound controls and every input/output port you would need, such as microphone and another 3.5 mm jack. It also features an USB charging port.

It’s really cool that if you turn this controller on, you’ll have red LED light shining from behind the volume rocker and it will turn blue if you switch the source over to another.

On the back, there are a number of RCA jacks and a 3.5 mm microphone jack. You can connect two different inputs here which can be pretty awesome.

I definitely can’t put the sound quality into words and return that thump of the sound and that overall clarity it delivers.

The Arion Legacy Deep Sonar 750 definitely delivers everything that you pay for. It is an awesome looking, high quality speaker with mind blowing sound quality, so it’s worth taking a look at.

– Cyber Acoustics CA-3090

There is nothing too fancy or to special with the CA-3090, just a good 2.1 speaker with a powerful subwoofer and a handy control pad.

It is a great solution for any user out there who doesn’t want to spend too much on their speaker system, but they would require more power than what an average stereo system would offer.

With 18 watts peak and 9 watts of RMS power, it is strong enough to fill a pretty big bedroom with roaring sound.

It also sounds very clear even on high volume levels, but there is a bit of rackling if you turn both the volume and the bass to max. Otherwise the entire speaker system performs really well.

The design of the CA-3090 is timeless. It looks good in any environment and will look good years from now, no matter where you put it.

The flat panel designed stereo speakers really have that complimentary look, which would make them fit well into just about any environment.

With the control pod, you don’t have to mess around with reaching down to the subwoofer or suffer any inconvenience.

Just place it on your table and enjoy controlling your audio experience with ease. On it, you can find the on/off switch, the volume rocker, along with an aux input jack and a headphone output jack.

The CA-3090 looks good and it feels good. It was made for people to enjoy fulfilling sounds in the comfort of their rooms. It is also one of the most low cost speakers on this list, so it’s really worth checking out the updated price tag.

– Cyber Acoustics AR504LR-BK

This speaker manages to strike a balance between price and quality. It is a good looking sound system with a subwoofer mounted LED display.

It might just be perfect addition to your living room or bedroom entertainment system. One thing’s for sure, it looks really cool and the power and sound quality it boasts is just awesome.

Both of the two speakers have the dimensions of 9.65 x 4.77 x 4.33 inches, while the sub-woofer has a dimension of 11.03 x 10.25 x 6.7 inches.

Each three of these pieces was constructed with a high-quality MDF. They all boast 70 watts of power and come with 4 woofers, 2 tweeters and 1 big subwoofer.

With them having a frequency response rate of 20Hz to 20 kHz you’ll definitely hear some nice and clear sounds.

The speakers are encased in a stiff and light material, which makes them really sturdy and precise. You’ll be getting some pretty awesome vibrations from these outstanding speakers.

This 2.1 speaker system would make a great addition to your living room, since you can control it from the comfort of your couch, with the remote control.

Choosing a Speaker with a Subwoofer for Your PC

Here, we have composed a buying guide for you, to help you get your hands on the speakers that will be the best for you.

Determine Sound Quality

As we have different tastes in music, food and arts, so do we have different tastes in sound quality. What sounds amazing for me might not work as well for you. So, sound quality is mostly based on personal judgment.

A good measurement of sound quality can be done by comparing the sound given off by it, to actual sounds, such as live music.

It’s a very good way to evaluate speakers. It should sound natural to your ears and you should be able to enjoy it without any annoyance or dissatisfaction in the tones that you hear.

Sometimes, you have to listen to a lot of different speakers a lot of times to be able to decide or you’ll just know that the speaker hit your sweet spot.

It’s also important to mention that the human ear can’t hear much above 20 kHz. There are speakers that go above, to 30 kHz, but there is no point for them to do so, since you won’t hear that difference. It’s just good for their marketing to say so.

Just trust your ears on this one!

Expensive Speakers Aren’t Necessarily Good

In some cases, you might find a really pricy 2.1 speaker setup, which consists of only two speakers and a sub-woofer. It could be a top of the line speaker, costing a couple of hundred dollars, but that doesn’t mean that their quality matches their price.

Even if the reviews classify it as being high quality, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the case for you. They will definitely be well-built and good sounding, but that doesn’t mean that they will work well for you.

If you find the bass to be distorted at high volumes or hear sounds that bother you, than its best if you return the speaker to where you bought it from and order a new one.

It’s the same in vice versa. Some speakers might sound exceptionally good and make you listen to them all day, but they won’t take long before they completely stop functioning. A lot of reviews claim that a particular speaker has very good audio, but they wouldn’t recommend using it.

Cheap Speakers Will Have Cheap Sound

When you move to a $10 or $20 price range, you really can’t expect much. Then again, if you don’t listen to music regularly and only need speakers to watch a few videos occasionally and hear your computer’s alert sounds, than they’re more than enough.

Cheapo speakers can last for years, even if they fall on the floor sometimes, but they will have terrible sound quality if you crank them up to higher volume levels.

If you want something that’s better in every way, definitely aim for speakers with mid-range or high prices.

More Watts Don’t Mean That it’s Louder

It does change a lot of things, but how much, depends on its construction, engineering and other design qualities.

Which Are The Best Speakers

There are a number of trusted brands out there that manufacture speakers, such as:

  • JBL
  • Logitech
  • Bose
  • Trust
  • Klipsch

But to step away from the labels you should get as much feedback from previous customers as possible.

Read a lot of consumer reviews, they usually give a lot of honest opinions. Tech enthusiasts often tend to overcomplicate things, or just miss the parts that you’re interested in knowing.

If you don’t want to go over the $50 dollar price tag, you have plenty of solid options. There are trusted brands that offer a two speaker and one subwoofer setups that will last some long years without a problem.

Look for some that have multiple audio input interfaces, Bluetooth connectivity, dedicated bass and volume controls and a look that you like. If you have at least a couple of these, you’ll definitely have yourself a good pair of speakers.

Consider Portability

You might be setting up the perfect man cave right now, but you might end up moving from one place to another within a year or two. You’ll probably want to bring your good quality speakers along with you too, so you should definitely consider portability.

If you do, choose a speaker that is lightweight or compact enough for you to be able to carry it around.

Always Test Before You Buy

That is, if you walk into a brick and mortar store of course. If you’re purchasing online, then you only have customer reviews to rely on. But even if you receive the speakers to your doorstep and don’t like them, you can send them back if they have a money back guarantee. So you’re pretty much set up for a safe purchase anyway.

Conclusion

Whatever your requirements are when it comes to the sound you get out of your PC, you’re sure to find a cost effective solution under $200. These were 10 of the best PC speakers of 2017 and they have all delivered some amazing quality sound.

Whether you want to use them to fill your room with your favorite music, make gameplay more immersive, or just enjoy better sound from the movies you’re watching all of these will serve you well to different levels.
